MWS FAMILY SERVICE CENTRES
MWS’ Family Service Centres (FSCs) serve individuals and families who may face difficult social and emotional challenges, such as interpersonal issues, family conflict, marital disputes, parenting issues, financial difficulties, and domestic violence. We develop customised holistic care plans to help them achieve stability, self-reliance, and social mobility. These care plans may include counselling, group work, and referrals to other community resources.Numbers at a Glance

Group work
Group work
We bring families with common needs together, and design and facilitate relevant groupwork programmes for them so they can experience validation, healing and empowerment.
These programmes may be psycho-educational, supportive, or therapeutic in nature, or comprise a mixture of these, and complement the casework and counselling they are receiving.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
We organise outreach activities to engage the residents in our service boundaries with the aim of enhancing the relationships amongst residents and their surrounding community resources.
Recognising every resident as an asset and strength, we work towards developing a safe and connected community where residents can mutually support and assist one another, thereby fostering a sustainable self-reliant environment.
OUR APPROACH
Our Family Service Centres adopt an Asset-Based Community Development framework, meaning we identify and mobilise assets within the community — such as schools, churches, grassroots organisations, corporate and individual volunteers — to help families overcome their challenges. Our clients also have skills, resources and potential to contribute towards their own solutions.
For clients with a history of trauma, we adopt the principles of trauma-informed care — such as ensuring our clients’ safety, respecting their boundaries, and jointly making decisions with them — to help improve outcomes.

How to get help
Family Service Centres serve residents within their service boundaries. MWS’ Family Service Centres can be found in Hougang and Buangkok, Sengkang West, Tampines, and Yishun. If you or someone you know need help on personal or family-related issues, just call, walk in, write or email your queries to your nearest FSC.
A social work practitioner will follow up with a call, arrange a face-to-face session, or do a home visit to find out more about your family situation. They will then develop a plan that best meets your needs.
