Round-the-clock residential care and rehabilitation

MWS NURSING HOMES

Our nursing homes provide round-the-clock residential care and rehabilitation to individuals, such as seniors who are chronically ill and frail or persons with moderate to severe disabilities, who need help with their activities of daily living. We also offer short-term respite care to caregivers who need a break from their caregiving duties.

What we offer

All our nursing homes leverage on technology to expand our capacity to care for our residents. Among others, this includes e.g. deploying humanoid AI robots to support interactions and engagement with residents; and using virtual technology-enabled physiotherapy to improve residents’ strength, endurance, coordination, and cardiovascular health.

Our services include:

Medical care by trained doctors

Nursing care, including dementia and palliative care

Rehabilitative care by trained allied health specialists

Emotional, social and spiritual support through pastoral care, counselling and family conferences

Caregiver support through our Caregivers’ Club

Our Care Philosophy

MWS Nursing Homes’ F.A.M.I.L.Y care philosophy is aligned with MOH’s 2023 Action Plan for Successful Ageing and rests on our belief that wholesome family-like relationships are avenues for love, companionship, and support by which our residents lead dignified lives.

F – Fulfilling Connectedness
Residents stay connected with loved ones and the community physically and digitally with the aid of appropriate technology (e.g. humanoid robots and virtual reality).

A – Affirming Empowerment
Residents enjoy choice in certain aspects of their daily care and are kept apprised of their health conditions and needs, reaffirming their sense of agency and dignity.

M – Multi-disciplinary Care
Through holistic and individualised care plans, residents receive medical, nursing, rehabilitative, pastoral and palliative care that address their total physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

I – Inclusive Community
Through activities and common interests (e.g. hobbies), and caring relationships with loved ones, staff, fellow residents, and the wider community, residents enjoy a sense of communal belonging.

L – Learning and Contribution
Residents are encouraged to contribute knowledge, learn or volunteer for light tasks (e.g. fold laundry), and share their stories for legacy-leaving and to build up one another.

Y – You-Centred Approach
We adopt a person-centred care model focused on each resident’s unique needs, preferences and well-being, ensuring they feel valued and supported in every aspect.

Our Care Approach

Building on our F.A.M.I.L.Y Nursing Home Care Philosophy, the model of care at our nursing homes is that of My Second Home. This entails:

Physical Set-up

Nursing Home residents live in home-like wards (known as ‘residences’) that each comprise several bedrooms, a small common living area, bathrooms and a satellite nurse station.

Care Set-Up

Every Nursing Home resident is a member of a ‘family unit’ that comprises their next-of-kin and dedicated care staff, encouraging familiarity and facilitating consistent care and communication. Residents' individual care plans are designed in consultation with their next-of-kin and integrated into a ‘family routine’. In addition, Humanitude principles and Reminiscence Facilitation (evidence-based practices) will be incorporated to strengthen our person-centred care, especially for residents with dementia.

The daily fee ranges from $106 to $163 (before subsidy) at our nursing homes, depending on the level of care needed.

The actual fees depend on household means-testing conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH). Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents may be eligible for government subsidies (up to 75%) and financial assistance.

To find out your eligibility for subsidies, approach the medical social workers at the polyclinic or hospital. Alternatively, you may contact the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) at tel: 1800-650-6060.

Nursing homes are open to people who need intermediate and long-term care (ILTC) after being discharged from a hospital and/or have no alternative care options. This includes the injured and disabled.

For subsidised admission, you will need to get a referral from a medical social worker at a hospital or polyclinic who is familiar with your loved ones’ condition and needs.

Alternatively, if you are not eligible for subsidies or wish to stay as a respite or private admission, you may enquire at any of our nursing homes directly. Admission will be based on bed availability.

Respite care is available for a period up to a month. Please contact the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) at tel: 1800-650-6060 or email enquiries@aic.sg if you require subsidised admission.
