A Safe Haven for Young Women

MWS Girls' Residence

MWS Girls’ Residence provides out-of-home residential care for vulnerable young women aged 15 to 21 years old, who have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences, and are in need of care and protection. We: 

Provide a safe community and environment in line with trauma-informed care principles

Support the rehabilitation of young women through therapeutic interventions 

Facilitate reconciliation with family (through family engagement, bonding and counselling)

Facilitate reintegration into society (through mentorship, education and employment support)

How we serve

  • Provide a safe and structured environment based on principles of trauma-informed care for young women in need 
  • Rehabilitation through casework and counselling. Upon admission, every resident is given an individualised care plan after a needs assessment, supported by a level progression system that enables her to strive towards rehabilitation with rewards
  • Collaborate with community partners, organisations, volunteers and individuals to curate educational, therapeutic and recreational programmes (e.g. craft, art, sensory exploration, mindfulness workshops, psychoeducation programmes) that empower young women who have experienced trauma.

As MWS Girls’ Residence is a haven for young women, the privacy and security of the residents are important. If you want to visit us, please make a prior appointment. We do not accept walk-ins.

Our Centre receives referral cases from partners such as the Family Justice Courts or Child Protective Service. We are unable to take in cases directly. We recommend that you seek assistance at the nearest Family Service Centre by looking up the Ministry of Social and Family Development website: https://www.msf.gov.sg/our-services/directories#familytab or call the following hotlines:

  • Child Protective Service at 1800-777 0000 

We help our residents become confident, self-sufficient and empowered young womenThis includes allowing them to stay with us until they have the necessary qualifications to be gainfully employed and to afford appropriate accommodationOnce they attain sufficient stability to live independently, they will graduate from our Centre.
