Before We Ask That Question This Lunar New Year…

Many well-meaning Lunar New Year questions about marriage, children, and careers can feel judgmental in a society where life paths and definitions of success are increasingly diverse. To foster genuine closeness, families can replace milestone-like questions with warm, everyday conversation starters and extend care beyond festive gatherings, creating emotional safety and support throughout the year.

About us

Methodist welfare services

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is committed to empowering people to have life to the full. At the heart of our work is a simple belief: every person carries dignity as one created in God's image, and we have been called to love all, regardless of race, language or religion.

Founded in 1981 with a simple desire to help those in need, MWS began as a small nursing home caring for just 24 elderly sick. What started as an act of compassion has since grown into a network of services supporting communities across Singapore.

As the social concerns arm of The Methodist Church in Singapore, we meet people at different points of struggle – poor health, strained relationships, financial distress, or simply feeling alone – and support them to rebuild resilience, restore dignity, and strengthen the relationships that matter most. Together, our staff, volunteers, partners, and churches serve as a community so that care does not sit on any one pair of shoulders. In the end, our hope is simple: that everyone discovers their strengths, grow into their potential, and experience fullness of life.

Because every life lifted becomes a light for others.
