MWS Staff Part of Initiative Using Gamification to Promote Wellness

Yong Limin (right), a physiotherapist and head of MWS’ Allied Health team, shared her experience in leveraging gamification to promote healthy living habits in the community during COVID-19 at Design4Impact3 (D4I3)’s webinar on 3 Feb 2023.

Organised by the Ministry of Health’s Office for Healthcare Transformation and National Council of Social Service, D4I is an open innovation platform that brings together groups and individuals to design solutions for health and social challenges faced in Singapore.

Limin was part of a multi-disciplinary team who won the pilot funding for their Block vs Block Bingo initiative in the 2020 edition of D4I. Offering financial incentives, the initiative ‘pits’ residents in 2 blocks of flats against each other in a series of fitness and healthy eating challenges.

MWS is refining the programme based on findings from the pilot, with plans to customise it for seniors at MWS Active Ageing Centres.
